White nose Syndrome (WNS) is a deadly disease that effects hibernating bats. If a bat is effected by WNS white fungus will grow on its nose and other parts of its body. If a bat is effected it will wake up during hibernation and will try to fly around. They could easily freeze in the cold weather or starve from lack of food. The bat pictured below is effected by WNS.
